Format: Teams are scheduled to play 18 holes of the three-day, 54-hole event each day starting from the first and 10th tees. Cal will play Friday's opening round in five threesomes along with golfers from LSU and Florida beginning at 8:45 am ET/5:45 am PT. Second and third-round pairings Saturday and Sunday will be determined by previous results.

? Cal is ranked tied for No. 11 in the preseason Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll while Golfweek's Lance Ringler has the Golden Bears No. 7 in a list of his top 30 teams heading into the campaign. Golfweek/Sagarin and Golfstat rankings have been released yet for the 2018-19 season.

Collin Morikawa
? Morikawa earned Golfweek Men's Player of the Year honors in 2017-18 among a host of awards that also included being a finalist for The Ben Hogan Award, a semifinalist for the Jack Nicklaus Award that honored the top college player in amateur golf and the best college golf, respectfully. He also earned first-team All-American honors and set an NCAA single-season record with a 68.68 stroke average that earned him the Golfstat Cup. In addition, Morikawa ended the 2017-18 season ranked on top of both the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin individual national rankings.
? Morikawa is not in the Cal lineup for the Carpet Collegiate Classic due to his participation Sept. 5-8 at the World Amateur Team Championships in Ireland.
2017-18 Team Highlights
? Cal finished the 2017-18 campaign ranked No. 9 according to Golfweek/Sagarin and No. 11 by Golfstat despite missing the NCAA Championships final field of 30. The Golden Bears season ended when they finished 10th in a 14-team field at the NCAA Raleigh Regional with only the top five squads advancing to the NCAA Championships. Cal won three team titles (Alister MacKenzie Invitational, Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate) and also finished second in three consecutive tournaments (Querencia Cabo Collegiate, The Goodwin, Western Intercollegiate).
2017-18 Individual Highlights
? Cal won five individual medalist honors in 2017-18 with Morikawa (Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Querencia Cabo Collegiate) and
KK Limbhasut (Alister MacKenzie Invitational, Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational) winning twice each while
Sebastian Crampton shared the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate with three others including Morikawa.

Carpet Collegiate Classic History
? Cal is making its second all-time appearance at the Carpet Collegiate Classic after making its debut at the event with a ninth-place finish in its 2017-18 season-opener. Three of the five players in this year's lineup –
Kaiwen Liu,
KK Limbhasut and
Sebastian Crampton – played for the Golden Bears at last season's event. Liu (73-68-70 – 211, -5) was Cal's top finisher in a tie for ninth, while Limbhasut (71-69-75 – 215, -1) tied for 34th and Crampton (78-74-74 – 226, +10) tied for 58th.
Joseph Chun and
Ben Doyle will be playing in the event for the first time in 2018-19 while
Collin Morikawa will miss the tournament for the second straight season due to his selections to the Walker Cup (2017) and World Amateur Team Championships (2018).
