SEATTLE, Wash. – California track & field opened the 2019 indoor season in style on Friday as they recorded five top-two finishes and two individual wins to open completion at the UW Invitational from Dempsey Indoor.

Sophomore Camryn Rogers continued her dominance with an excellent showing in the weight throw. Fresh off winning the U20 World Championship in the hammer throw this summer, Rogers translated that success indoors as she recorded the second-best mark in school history at 21.06m/69-1.25. She unleashed that throw on her second attempt to better her career best. Overall, Rogers had three throws that surpassed her best throw from 2018.

Paramveer Chohan opened the 2019 campaign by winning the 200m competition with a personal best time of 21.66. Chohan blazed around the track to record the eighth-fastest time in school history.

The women's 200m featured Zion Corrales-Nelson recording a second place finish with a time of 24.49. That mark ranks fifth in school history and sets a new personal best for the Canadian national. Jackie Patterson took sixth by winning her heat of the 200m with a time of 24.97. Ezinne Abba (14th) and Maisie Stevens (15th) both recorded top-15 finishes in their first collegiate competition.
