BOULDER, Colo. – Still in search of its first conference road win of the year, the Cal women's basketball team will be back in action on Sunday, squaring off against Colorado at the CU Event Center at 1 p.m. MT/12 p.m. PT. The Golden Bears (12-6, 3-4 Pac-12) are looking to bounce back from an 87-74 loss at No. 21 Utah on Friday night while the Buffaloes (10-8, 0-7 Pac-12) are in search of their first conference win of the year.
Cal has won three of the last five head-to-head matchups with Colorado, though the series has been tightly contested as of late. The last two matchups between the schools – both in Berkeley – were decided by a combined total of seven points, including a 78-76 victory for the Bears last season in Berkeley. Cal was victorious in its last trip to Boulder, which came during the 2016-17 season. The Bears used a dominant second-half effort to overcome 12-point second quarter deficit and beat the Buffs, 65-53. Kristine Anigwe scored 25 of her game-high 29 points in the second half as Cal held Colorado to a total of 19 points in the second half.
Now in her senior season, Anigwe has continued to dominate on both sides of the ball and leads the country in rebounding, averaging 15.2 rebounds per game this season. The 6'4" center/forward also ranks sixth in the nation in scoring, averaging 22.8 points per game. A nominee for the Naismith National Defensive Player of the Year, Anigwe is averaging two blocks per game this season and had 24 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and two assists on Friday against Utah.
Despite the production from Anigwe and double-figure scoring from junior center CJ West (12 points) and senior Asha Thomas (11 points), Cal gave up a season-high 87 points in the loss to the 21st-ranked Utes. Three of Cal's losses this season have come to opponents ranked in the AP Top 25.

SCOUTING THE BUFFALOES
While still winless this season in conference play, Colorado enters Sunday's matchup coming off an exciting outing Friday night against No. 6 Stanford. The Buffs led Stanford by double-digits early in the first half and took an eight-point lead into the locker room. However, Stanford surged ahead in the second half, outscoring Colorado 32-12 in the third quarter to take control. The Buffs shot 43 percent (12-28) from beyond the arc on the afternoon, led by a 5-12 performance from senior Alexis Robinson. Robinson scored a team-high 25 points while Maya Hollingshed added 15 points on 3-6 shooting from beyond the arc and Annika Jank added 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Robinson is one of four players averaging double-figures for Colorado this season at 11.1 points per game, and is coming off back-to-back 20-point performances. Junior guard Quinessa Cayloa-Do is averaging 11.4 points per game on the year while sophomore guard/forward Hollingshed is adding 10.7 points per game to go along with a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game.
Head coach JR Payne is in her third season in Boulder and led the Buffs to a postseason appearance in 2017. Colorado went 10-1 in non-conference play, with its lone loss coming on the road at No. 21 Miami.
