BERKELEY – The Cal women's soccer team continues its tradition of academic success, earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the seventh consecutive season, the organization announced this week.

To qualify for the Team Academic Award, teams must have had a composite grade point average of 3.0 or higher for all players on the roster for the 2018-19 academic year. This is Cal's 15th time overall winning the award, and the 10th such instance under head coach Neil McGuire.

The Golden Bears posted a cumulative GPA of 3.29 over the course of the 2018-19 school year and had thirteen players collect Pac-12 All-Academic honors. Emily Smith earned Pac-12 First Team All-Academic recognition and was also named to Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team. Kayla Fong and Daisy Cleverley collected Academic All-District Second Team honors, while Olivia Sekany and Emma Westin were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team.

The 20th-ranked Golden Bears (9-2-0, 1-1-0 Pac-12) are back in action on Sunday, hosting No. 14 Washington State (8-2-0, 1-1-0 Pac-12) at 12 p.m. PT at Edwards Stadium.
