Cal Heads To Las Vegas For A Pair Of Neutral-Site Games
Bears Will Face Fresno State And San Diego State
BERKELEY - After facing two skilled opponents to open the 2019 season last weekend, the California women's lacrosse team heads to Las Vegas this weekend for a pair of neutral-site contests. The Golden Bears face Fresno State on Friday, Feb. 15, at 4 p.m., and San Diego State on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m.
Caroline Corzel is the early season leader in goals with four, while she is tied with
Eliza Christman and
Susie Ropp in points with four each. Corzel's four goals are also tied for first in the Pac-12 individual rankings.
Christman leads the Bears with 11 draws after collecting a career-high eight vs. Denver.
Jenny Wilkens notched a season-high 11 saves against Denver, and she boasts 18 through the first two games of the season. Wilkens has posted 19 career games with double-digit saves. She also leads her squad with eight ground balls through two games this season.
The Bears are 7-3 all-time against Fresno State. The road team has won the last three meetings with the Bulldogs winning in 2016 and, 14-13, in Berkeley last year after the Bears were in victorious in Fresno, 16-14, in 2017.
Cal is 3-4 all-time against San Diego State. The last three meetings were decided by one goal, and two of the last three contests ended in overtime.
Cal returns home next week to face UC Davis on Friday, Feb 22, at 5 p.m. in Berkeley. In the 2018 season opener, Cal defeated UC Davis, 11-9, in Davis.
