MORAGA, Calif. – Unbothered by a two-run deficit after the first inning, California's bats continued talking as the Golden Bears recorded 11 more runs across six innings to down Saint Mary's 13-5 on Wednesday afternoon in Cal's lone local contest during preseason.

The Bears gave up four runs in the bottom of the first to fall behind 4-2 and that was all of the motivation the Bears (6-5) needed to get going.

Sophomore Mikayla Coelho led the charge with four hits, six RBIs and two runs. She blasted her second dinger of the season to open scoring for the day and also added a pair of doubles and a single.

But, it was a group effort as Cal pelted a season best 16 hits to bring nine different Bears across the plate. Sophomore Karlee Sparacino batted a perfect 3-for-3 and had as many runs to lead the team in scores, while sophomore Sabrina Nunez also found home twice.

Freshman Alexandra Perez picked up the win after coming in to take over the circle to begin second inning for Zoe Conley. She is 2-0 on the season, after allowing two hits, one run and six walks. She struck out three batters in 6.0 innings of work.

Ninemire's Notes
"We had a good outing and I thought Alex Perez came in and did a great job in relief for us," head coach Diane Ninemire said. "Our hitting was really strong today and our sophomore group was really strong for us today at the plate. Coelho was key in bringing in a load of runs and Espalin really did a strong job at the plate and behind the plate."

The win marked Cal's lone local game of the preseason as they spend the next month on the road. The Bears head to SoCal for the Mary Nutter Classic II in Cathedral City for a five-game slate beginning on Friday, Feb. 22 at 12:30 p.m. (PT).
