SANTA BARBARA – California ruled the day after recording another five-inning win to finish off its Friday doubleheader.

The Bears (11-7) downed host team Santa Barbara (4-11) 11-0 a few hours after run-ruling Bowling Green 11-3 to open the weekend at the Gauchos Classic.

In its second outing, the Bears recorded three consecutive multi-run frames, including a decisive five-score half in the top of the second to move into run-rule territory.

Cal brought seven different Bears across the plate with leadoff
Lindsay Rood scoring three times, a game high.
Amani Bradley and
Mikayla Coelho found home twice with Coelho bringing in the top of the lineup on a three-run homer.
Kamalani Dung (6-3) picked up the win behind an impressive 10 strikeout display in 5.0 innings, giving up just three hits on the day.Â

The Bears finish with a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning with at 11 a.m. (PT) against LIU Brooklyn and UCSB at 1:30 p.m. (PT).
Cal 11, BGSU 3
After a slow start against Bowling Green, California pieced together a nine-run frame to finish the day early.

The Golden Bears (10-7) recorded their first run-rule of the year against the Falcons (4-6) in an 11-3 decision to start a doubleheader day at the Gauchos Classic.

Cal's demonstrative half came in the bottom of the fifth with
Jordan Fines drawing the walk to lead off as the Bears batted around.

Amani Bradley (2-for-4) loaded the bases with back-to-back singles. Bears clean-up
Lauren Espalin (3-for-3) brought in the game-tying run on an RBI hit-by-pitch to bring in Fines and Cal kept the bags full with one out.

The damage continued for BGSU after freshman catcher
Makena Smith reached on an error, allowing Rood and Bradley to get home safely to take a 5-3 lead.
Alexandra Perez got dinged at the plate and the Bears loaded the bases once again until sophomore
Karlee Sparacino (1-for-3) drilled one through right field for a three RBI triple to bring things to 8-3.

It was a big moment for the sophomore who has been in a bit of a rut going 0-for-13 in Cal's previous four outings.
Cal brought in Sparacino, Fines and Rood to close the day early. Rood scored the go-ahead run on Espalin's two out walk-off RBI single with loaded bases.

The win marks Cal's third in a row and is the third game of the last four which the Bears posted double-digit hits.

Cal gave up two early runs in the top of the third to fall behind 2-0, but brought in runs on a 2 RBI single from
Destiny Blueford that allowed Espalin and
Mikayla Coelho to find the plate in the bottom of the fourth.

The Falcons posted another run for a short-lived 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth.
Â
Zoe Conley (3-4) picked up the win behind a six-hit, three-run, eight-strikeout showing. The senior ace threw 5.0 innings, without a walk.

Cal finishes the day with a 3:30 p.m. matchup against host-team Santa Barbara. Â
