Cal Opens Pac-12 Play Against Oregon And Colorado This Week
The Bears Hope To Earn A Four-Game Winning Streak On Friday
BERKELEY - After playing four of its last five games on the road, California returns to Berkeley this week with a three-game homestand to begin Pac-12 conference play against Oregon on Friday, March 8, at 5 p.m. and No. 23 Colorado on Sunday, March 10, at noon. Both games will be played at California Memorial Stadium.
The last time Cal beat a ranked team was in 2008 when the Bears beat then-No. 19 Oregon, 12-8, in Eugene, Ore.
The Bears are 8-13 all-time vs. Oregon and 2-4 all-time vs. Colorado. Cal won the regular-season meeting against the Ducks in Berkeley last season.
Cal enters Pac-12 play enjoying a three-game winning streak after defeating George Washington and Mount St. Mary's on the east coast last weekend. A win on Friday would give the Bears a four-game winning streak, which would be the first in the
Brooke Eubanks' era and the first for the program since 2013.
In the last five games, the Bears have outscored their opponents, 15-8 combined, in the first 10 minutes of each contest.
Kirsten Swanson paces the Bears in scoring with 20 points (15 goals, 5 assists). She tallied five points vs. Mount St. Mary's with all four of her goals coming in the second half.
Jenny Wilkens earned her 21st and 22nd career double-digit save performances last weekend, including a season-best 13 saves vs. Mount St. Mary's. She also leads the Bears in ground balls with 25 on the year and 144 for her career, which ranks second all-time at Cal.
Cal concludes its brief homestand next week against Stanford. The game against the Cardinal will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
