No. 19 Stanford Tops Cal, 17-6

The Bears Closed Out The Regular Season With A Tough Loss

STANFORD  - Eliza Christman scored five times and set the school single-season record for draw controls, but California fell to No. 19 Stanford, 17-6, Friday afternoon at Cagan Stadium on the Stanford campus.

Cal finished the regular season with a record of 6-11, 3-7.

Facing the Pac-12's top team on draws, Cal once again won the battle in that stat category, 13-11, with a team best of five by Christman. She now boasts 77 on the season, the new school single-season record. She surpassed Elizabeth Koehler's 76 set last season.

With her five goals, Christman became Cal's third player to garner 30 goals this season (Kirsten Swanson 37, Caroline Corzel 32). Corzel tallied Cal's sixth goal of the day on a free-position shot attempt.

Nikki Zaccaro earned an assist to add to her team-leading total of 21 this season.

Defensively, Jenny Wilkens made seven saves and garnered three ground balls. Already the school career record holder, Wilkens needs six more ground balls to set the school single-season record.

Lizabanks Campagna notched a team-best four ground balls, four draws and caused a turnover.

The Bears head back to Eugene, Ore., next week for the Pac-12 Tournament. Cal will be the four seed and face No. 5 seed Arizona State on Thursday. The winner of that game will face the top-seed USC on Friday. The final is set for Sunday. Every game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
