BERKELEY – A perfect Sunday for some action the diamond was anything but bright for the Golden Bears as they gave up the sweep to the No. 6 Huskies of Washington to pick up their eighth consecutive Pac-12 loss this season.

California (21-18, 1-10 Pac-12) was blanked for the second time of the series with the 4-0 loss, struggling to find its first hit until the third inning.

After falling behind 1-0 on a walk with loaded bases, the Bears gave up two additional runs in the top of the fourth to dig a deeper hole for themselves. However, Cal found some fight in the bottom half of the inning, with back-to-back singles from sophomores Mikayla Coelho and Lauren Espalin, the No. 3 and No. 4 hitters for the Bears.

Cal eventually got the tying run on base after junior utility player Jordan Fines was hit by a pitch, but were down two by that time after a line out and strikeout. The Bears' offensive woes reappeared and they were unable to plate any runners, leaving all three on.

UW (32-6, 9-3 Pac-12) added one more to the score in the top of the final inning on a sac fly and Cal was unable to cut the deficit in its final at-bat going down in order.

Senior ace Zoe Conley (6-11) picked up the loss after giving up four hits, two earned runs and two walks. She retired three Huskies in her 4.0 innings.

Cal begins the second-half of its eight-game homestand on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. (PT) contest against Saint Mary's before closing its stretch in Strawberry Canyon with a league series versus Oregon State.
