Ashtyn Davis Named To Paul Hornung Award Watch List
Safety/Kick Returner Up For Award Honoring Nation’s Most Versatile Player
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior safety/kick returner
Ashtyn Davis was named to the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse on Thursday for the second straight season. The honor is given annually by the Louisville Sports Commission and football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung to the most versatile player in major college football.
The winner and his family will be honored at the annual Paul Hornung Award dinner at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville on March 4, 2020.

Ashtyn Davis, S/KR, 6-1, 200, RSr., 3L, Santa Cruz, CA (Santa Cruz HS)
Cal Career (2015 – Present)
• Has played in 37 games with 22 starts and has defensive totals highlighted by 114 tackles and five interceptions that he has returned for 90 yards and one touchdown
• Has added career kick return totals of 63 kick returns for 1455 yards and one touchdown with a 23.1 yards per kick return average to total 1545 all-purpose yards
• Cal's active career leader in interception return yards, kick returns, kick returns yards, kick return touchdowns and all-purpose yards, while ranking second in interceptions and tied for second in interceptions returned for a touchdown
Junior (2018)
• Earned first-team (Associated Press, Athlon Sports, Pro Football Focus), second-team (Phil Steele) and honorable mention (Pac-12 Coaches) All-Pac-12 honors, registering a career-high 56 tackles while ranking tied for third in the Pac-12 in both total interceptions (4) and interceptions per game (0.3), as well as tied for 16th and 27th nationally
• Returned his four interceptions for 59 yards and his first career pick-six
• Also returned 24 kicks for 629 yards and his lone career kick return touchdown (all team highs) with the touchdown coming on a career-long 89-yarder against Idaho State to lead the team in all three categories
• Shared the Pac-12 lead with three others with his single kickoff return touchdown that ranked tied for sixth nationally as one of 32 players in the country who had at least one each, while his 26.2 yards per kick return average were second in the Pac-12 and 17th nationally
Cal Track And Field (2015-18)
• Four-time All-American in the 110 meter hurdles
• Won Pac-12 title in 110 meter hurdles as 2017 junior

The Paul Hornung Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which encompasses the most prestigious awards in college football.
