MONTREAL, Quebec – Rising junior Camryn Rogers won the Canadian National Championship on Saturday afternoon at Claude Robillard Sports Complex in Montreal.

Rogers took the lead on her first attempt as she threw 64.70m/212-3.50 on her opener. She bettered that on her third attempt as she launched the hammer 65.41m/214-7.25 to set her final mark and increase her lead. Overall, Rogers had three attempts further than anybody else in the competition.

Rogers came into the competition with the second-best seed mark, but was able to outlast her competitors. Jillian Weir came in with the top seed mark, but she collected fouls on all three attempts and did not qualify for the finals.

Rogers did not have her best competition as her mark of 65.41m was below the mark she compiled at both the Pac-12 Championship and NCAA Championship earlier this year. Rogers threw 69.99m as she won the Pac-12 title and followed that up with a throw of 71.50m to win the NCAA Championship in June.

This was the fourth major championship victory for Rogers. In addition to winning the Pac-12 and NCAA Championships, Rogers won the U20 World Championship in Finland last summer.

Rogers will continue her summer competition next week as she competes in the Pan-America Games in Lima, Peru on August 6.
