Bears Add Raquel Savoy As Volunteer Assistant Softball Coach
Savoy Boasts Nine Years Of Coaching Experience
BERKELEY – Raquel Savoy was named a volunteer assistant coach for the California softball team as announced on Tuesday by head coach Diane Ninemire.
Savoy boasts over nine years of coaching experience, including seven years of coaching at the collegiate level.
"I'm really excited about adding Raquel to our coaching staff," Ninemire said. "She comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience, formerly working at Santa Clara. She had a good hand in turning around their program and adding to some of their offensive and defensive accomplishments last year. She will be a great addition to our program, in the hitting and infield areas, especially."
Savoy heads to Berkeley after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Santa Clara last season. She aided the Broncos' coaching staff with day-to-day operations, as well as infield, hitting and catcher player development.
Prior to her one-year stint with the Broncos, she served as an assistant coach at Chabot College for four years from 2013-17. Savoy also played at Chabot College for two seasons from 2008-10.
She has also spent time as an assistant coach at Dominican University, College of Marin and Tennyson High School.
"I'm very excited to work with a program that is so dedicated to winning," Savoy said. "This is a program that has a lot of culture behind it, and I'm excited to work with a coaching staff that has so many accolades with what they've achieved in their coaching careers."
A native of Fremont, Calif., Savoy played third base and shortstop during her collegiate career at Menlo College, finishing her collegiate career with the 2012 season.
