Rodgers Was Previously Named To The U-19 Squad

BERKELEY - Megan Rodgers and Brynn Zorilla were named to the 2020 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team as announced on Tuesday by the organization. Rodgers already boasts some national team experience, having been named previously to the U.S. U-19 national squad.

The California duo were selected to the team after three days of competition at The Nook in Lancaster, Pa. Megan Connors was also invited to the trials, but was unable to participate. She will receive another trial at the next training opportunity.

The national team will resume training from Feb. 20-24 in Chula Vista, Calif., following by another session from March 27-29 in North Carolina. The squad is preparing for the Junior Pan American Championships that will take place from Nov. 30-Dec. 13 in Santiago, Chile.

Rodgers finished the 2019 campaign as Cal's leading scorer with 30 points (13 goals, four assists). At the end of the regular season, Rodgers ranked tied for 22nd in goals and 24th in points among the national leaders. In the Cal record book, she ranks fourth in career goals (43) and fifth in career points (87). She earned her third straight NFHCA All-Region honor, and her second straight appearance on the West Region First Team.

Zorilla's 11 points ranked fifth on the team, and she scored the game-winning goal in overtime against Penn State. She also scored vs. Stanford and earned an assist in Cal's 3-2 OT win vs. UC Davis. Her goal vs. Stanford cut the Cardinal lead down to one during Cal's second-half comeback.
