Mitchell Schwartz On To Super Bowl LIV
Cal Has Had At Least One Player On A Super Bowl Roster 19 Of Last 20 Seasons And Seven Straight
BERKELEY – Former Cal offensive tackle
Mitchell Schwartz is headed to Miami for Super Bowl LIV with Kansas City to take the San Francisco 49ers after the Chiefs' 35-24 home victory over Tennessee in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday. Cal has now had at least one player on a Super Bowl roster 19 times in the last 20 seasons and each of the last seven. Super Bowl LIV will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., on Sunday, Feb. 2 (3:30 pm PT, FOX).
Schwartz is in his eighth NFL season and will be playing in his first Super Bowl. He was selected in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Cal by Cleveland and played his first four NFL seasons with the Browns before signing as a free agent with Kansas City prior to the 2016 campaign. He has started all 128 regular-season games possible during his first eight seasons in the NFL and has also started all six postseason contests the Chiefs have played in during his first four seasons in Kansas City. Schwartz' current regular-season run of 128 consecutive starts is the third-longest active streak in the NFL. He also played in 7894 consecutive snaps until that streak finally came to an end when an injury forced him out of a road loss at Tennessee on Nov. 10, 2019.
Aaron Rodgers fell one win shy of reaching his second career Super Bowl when Green Bay was defeated 37-20 by San Francisco on Sunday at Levi's® Stadium in the NFC Championship Game. Rodgers completed 31-of-39 passes for 326 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
James Looney was also a member of the Packers' practice squad.
