BERKELEY – California pushed No. 11 Oregon throughout, but the Bears came up short late in a 77-72 defeat as the Ducks escaped Haas Pavilion on Thursday night.

Matt Bradley scored a career-high 27 points to lead California, while graduate senior
Kareem South added 13 points for the Bears. Junior
Grant Anticevich chipped in 10 points to go along with five rebounds. Oregon got 21 points and eight assists from senior Payton Pritchard.
California drops to 9-11 overall with the loss and 3-4 in Pac-12 play, while Oregon improves to 18-4 overall and 7-2 in conference.
Summary: The Ducks used a late run of seven straight over more than three minutes to build their biggest lead of the night at 70-60, holding the Bears scoreless for more than four minutes from the field. Tied at 58 with 7:30 remaining, the Ducks went on an 8-0 run to build a 63-58 lead and took a seven-point lead at 67-60 on a layup from Juiston at the last media timeout with 3:47 left.
Cal matched its biggest lead at 52-45 with 10:58 left in the game on an alley-oop from South to freshman
D.J. Thorpe. The Bears got a 3-pointer from Bradley, followed by a layup and free throw from Austin to finish an and-one as Cal took a 48-42 advantage at the 12:18 mark.
Oregon scored eight of the first 10 points in the second half before back-to-back 3-pointers from South gave Cal a run of eight straight and a 42-40 lead at the first media timeout with 14:29 left in the game.
Anticevich knocked down his second 3-pointer in the final two minutes, but Oregon got a layup from Richardson as time expired in the first half and both teams went to the locker room with the score tied at 32. Both teams went scoreless from the field for more than four minutes as Oregon led 25-22 with 3:50 remaining in the first.
Bradley scored the next five points for the Bears, ending the Duck run and bringing Cal within 22-20 at the third media timeout of the half.
Oregon responded out of the timeout, scoring nine straight to take an 18-15 lead with 10:17 to go in the half as Cal called their first timeout. The Bears took an early 11-6 lead at the first media timeout thanks to six quick points from Thiemann and a 3-pointer from South.
