Camryn Bynum To Return To Cal For 2020
Senior Cornerback Had Previously Announced Intention To Forego Senior Season
BERKELEY – Cornerback
Camryn Bynum announced Monday that he is returning to Cal for the 2020 season after previously announcing he intended to forego his fifth-year redshirt senior campaign at Cal in 2020 to focus on his preparation enter the 2021 NFL Draft. Bynum's previous announcement came Sept. 6 when at the time all 2020 Pac-12 games had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic until at least Jan. 1. The Pac-12 reversed course and announced a seven-game conference only season on Sept. 24. The Golden Bears will open their 2020 campaign by hosting Washington on Nov. 7. Â
"I ended up declaring [originally] when the season was pushed into the springtime and I wouldn't be able to both play in a season and prepare for an NFL Combine, Senior Bowl and those things," Bynum said. "But now that the season was pushed up to November and December, I didn't see any reason not to play. I'll still have time to train for the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine on the back end. The best thing for my development right now is to get the reps and be able to actually play football."
