Susie Ropp and the Golden Bears open the 2020 season Friday at UC Davis
CAL GETS 2020 UNDERWAY
- Cal is back on the field this Friday at UC Davis for the first time since reaching the semifinals of the 2019 Pac-12 Conference Tournament with its first ever victory in the event and first post-season win since 2010 with a first-round win over Arizona State before losing in the semifinals to eventual conference champion USC.
SERIES HISTORY VS. UC DAVIS
- Cal leads the all-time series over UC Davis, 21-8, including a string of 12 consecutive victories from 2001-09 and a current run of three in a row from 2017-19.
- Cal was a 16-13 winner over UC Davis in Berkeley the last time the teams met in 2019 and also defeated the Aggies in Berkeley in 2017 by a score of 15-12 to begin its current three-game win streak against UC Davis. The Golden Bears were also 11-9 winners the last time the teams played in Davis to open the 2018 season. UC Davis' last victory against Cal was a 7-5 triumph in Davis in 2016.
SEASON OPENERS
- Cal is 9-11 all-time in season openers with its most recent victory in a season opener coming in a 11-9 win at UC Davis on Feb. 9, 2018.
CAL LOOKING TO CONTINUE IMPROVEMENT
- Cal has added a victory to the win column each of the last two seasons, going from five victories in 2017 to six in 2018 and seven last season.

- Cal will be looking to replace its top scoring trio from 2019 in
Kirsten Swanson (42 goals, 13 assists, 55 points),
Caroline Corzel (34 goals, 6 assists, 40 points) and
Eliza Christman (32 goals, 5 assists, 37 points).
- Cal has plenty of players ready to step into a more prominent scoring role in 2020 with every individual outside of the trio that accounted for any points last year all returning.

- Cal will open its' 2020 home season by hosting a Virginia squad that ranks seventh in a preseason poll issued by Inside Lacrosse and is No. 8 according to the IWLCA poll.
