ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – California track & field got its second men's shot put win in as many tries this indoor season as Joshua Johnson set a new career-best with a throw of 19.44 meters (63-9 ½) to close out competition at the Don Kirby Invitational Friday.

It was the second-consecutive win for the Bears in the event after teammate McKay Johnson put up the nation's top mark of 20.63 meters (67-8 ¼) to take the title at the New Mexico Team Open two weeks ago.

Cal added five more personal-bests on Friday to make it 14 total in the two-day meet at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

The Bears took two of the top three spots in the men's shot put as Iffy Joyner posted a farthest throw of 18.34 meters (60-2) to grab third-place.

Starting the day with the sprints, Zion Corrales-Nelson began where she left off Thursday by clocking 7.50 seconds in the women's 60-meter qualifying to record the fourth-best indoor time in Cal history and second-fastest overall time in the qualifying rounds. Kennedy Williams recorded a personal record of more than two-tenths of a second (7.59) to also advance to the prelims of the women's 60-meters.

After running 7.99 seconds in the men's 60-meter hurdle prelim round, Jasher Foster clocked 7.95 seconds in the final to finish fourth overall and third among collegians in the event.
