FULLERTON, Calif. -
D'Asha Saiki posted a three-run home run, but that was all the scoring the California softball team could muster as the Golden Bears fell to BYU, 10-3, Saturday at the Judi Garman Classic at Anderson Family Field on the Cal State Fullerton campus.Â
Cal fell to 9-9 on the year.Â
After BYU struck first with three runs in the first inning, Saiki evened it up with a three-run home run in the bottom of the second, scoring
Kacey Zobac and
Sophie Medellin. Zobac singled to start the rally, her first of two hits on the day.Â
BYU retook the lead in the third after stringing together a couple of hits before a five-run sixth inning broke the game open.
Mikayla Coelho singled in the bottom of the sixth to extend her hitting streak to a team-best 14 games.
Makena Smith kept her hitting streak alive at 13 games with an infield single in the seventh.Â
Medellin reached base a second time when she singled in the fifth for Cal's third hit of the day.Â
Cal concludes play in the Judi Garman Classic against Grand Canyon University on Sunday at 11 a.m.Â
