BERKELEY – Head coach Brooke Eubanks announced Saturday that Cal has added Simone Holland (Alexandria, VA/St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School) to the Golden Bears' 2020 recruiting class. Holland, who signed a National Letter Of Intent earlier this month, is slated to join Cal in August of 2020. Holland is the seventh student-athlete to sign an NLI with the Bears in this recruiting class following Hanna Deringer, Boo DeWitt, Kennedy Goss, Ella Greene, Kate Rothman and Sara Russell last November.

"Simone's skills, personality and work ethic are great additions to our talented incoming freshman class," Eubanks said. "She has shown us she has what it takes and we are looking forward to having her join the program."

• Earned US Lacrosse Academic All-American recognition, first-team All-State honors from the Virginia Independent School Athletic Association and a first-team Independent School League AA selection, while she was an honorable mention All-Metro pick of the Washington Post as a 2019 junior
• Led her junior squad that won both VISAA state and ISL AA titles on its way to a 25-2 overall record and No. 9 final national ranking by Inside Lacrosse in ground balls (37) and caused turnovers (28)
• Also led her 2018 sophomore squad in ground balls and assists for a team that finished 26-4 overall and No. 25 in Inside Lacrosse's final rankings after being co-ISL AA champions
• Selected as a captain for her 2020 senior team that was ranked No. 2 nationally in the preseason by US Lacrosse but squad has not played a game due to coronavirus
• Also a four-year varsity starter in basketball who was a team captain in each of her final two seasons, team MVP as a 2018-19 junior and an All-ISL AA pick in her 2016-17 freshman campaign
• A founding executive committee member of Saints Play (a tuition free sports camp for underprivileged children in the Alexandria community), as well as a member of Jack and Jill and the National Society of High School Honors
• Played three seasons of club lacrosse from 2017-19 with Capital 2020
