Cal Hosts San Jose State In Midweek Contest
BERKELEY – With its first Pac-12 Conference series quickly approaching, California will first face an in-state opponent when San Jose State visits Evans Diamond at 6 p.m. (PT) on Tuesday, March 10.
All aspects of Tuesday's game will be as scheduled. Cal Athletics and Cal Performance events are not affected by the event limitation guidelines included in
UC Berkeley's latest message regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). The game will be live streamed on CalBears.com.

QUICK HITS
- Cal is 81-40 all-time against San Jose State. The two teams are even in their last 10 head-to-head clashes, but the Bears most recently picked up a 13-0 win in Berkeley on March 12, 2019.
- Mitchell Scott will start on the mound for Cal on Tuesday. He hasn't allowed a run in 3.2 innings this season and has recorded five strikeouts over two appearances. It will be Scott's fourth career start (three in 2019).
- Quentin Selma continues to pace Cal offensively with a .302 batting average, 16 runs batted in, .434 slugging percentage, 12 walks and a .426 on base percentage. He was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on Feb. 25.
- Cal is 4-2 when scoring six runs or more and 0-9 when scoring less than six.
- Darren Baker leads the Bears with five multi-hit performances.
SPARTAN OUTLOOK
The Spartans enter Tuesday's game with a 5-11 overall record and are in the midst of a five-game losing streak. All five of their wins came in a six-game span from Feb. 22-29. San Jose State has played just twice on the road so far, losing at Santa Clara (18-4) and Saint Mary's (4-2). Left-hander Jake Hernandez (0-0, 23.62 ERA) is expected to start on the mound for the Spartans. The junior has tossed just 2.2 innings this season, but logged two hitless innings of relief against Loyola Marymount last weekend. In two other appearances, Hernandez has surrendered eight runs on eight hits while recording just two outs. Offensively the Spartans are batting .236, led by Ruben Ibarra (.357, 20-for-56).
