Junior Thankful For Moments And Memories With Teammates
This is obviously not the way we imagined the 2020 college baseball season would come to an end. As you all know, we were only able to play 16 games of our season before the Pac-12 Conference and NCAA decided to cancel the remainder of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Â
When reflecting on our short season, we as a team felt that we were close to turning things around after a tough start. A lot of that momentum started with our big win over San Jose State on Tuesday, March 10 – the final game we played before the season was canceled. We all wanted to win for our seniors, some of whom have become my friends for life. We worked hard leading up to this spring and while the offseason was tough, we knew that all the hard work we put in would pay off on the field where it mattered most.
Â
Once we realized that the season could be in jeopardy, we talked a lot as a team in the days prior to the official announcement. Our coaching staff preached to us that we could only control what we could control. They also reminded us that our 2020 team may never play together again, and that we should enjoy the moments we had together.
Â
I'm most thankful for the moments and memories I had with my teammates. Sure, we had amazing times on the field, but the bond between teammates is the greatest experience of being a college student-athlete. Cal Baseball is about the connections made off the field and the friends I know I'll have for the rest of my life. Just like we have one another's backs on the field, I know we all have the same brotherhood off the field.

Stay safe, stay home. Go Bears!
