NFL Draft Thursday-Saturday
Golden Bears Have Had At Least One Player Selected In 31 Of Last 33 Years
BERKELEY – The 2020 NFL Draft will be televised on ABC, ESPN, NFL Network and ESPN Deportes in a single multi-network presentation of all seven rounds this Thursday-Saturday, April 23-25. Thursday's first round is slated to begin at 5 pm PT, while Friday's second day featuring the second and third rounds starts at 4 pm PT. Rounds four through seven get underway Saturday at 9 am PT.
Six former Cal players –
Traveon Beck,
Ashtyn Davis,
Jordan Duncan,
Jaylinn Hawkins,
Greg Thomas and
Evan Weaver – who completed their collegiate eligibility with the Golden Bears in 2019 have professional football aspirations. Davis, Hawkins and Weaver participated in the 2020 NFL Combine in late February and early March, while all six were scheduled to take part in Cal's Pro Day scheduled for March 20 before it was canceled due to COVID-19. The Golden Bears have had at least one player selected in 31 of the last 33 years.
The draft will also serve as a three-day virtual fundraiser benefitting six charities that are battling the spread of COVID-19 and delivering relief to millions in need. In conjunction with the draft, the NFL will host a
"Draft-A-Thon" that will be live streamed on NFL social and digital platforms and featured in live televised draft coverage. Donations can be made online at
NFL.com/RELIEF and there is also a text-to-donate option.
The draft was originally scheduled to take place in Las Vegas but due to the COVID-19 pandemic will now be a "virtual" draft primarily from homes around the nation. The telecasts will originate from ESPN's studios in Bristol, Conn., and adhere to proper social distancing guidelines and local workplace rules. Draft hosts and a limited number of commentators will be in-studio, while a majority of analysts, reporters and other experts will contribute remotely from their home studios with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell announcing the draft picks from his home.
Extensive coverage of all former Cal football players selected in the 2020 NFL Draft and those that sign undrafted free agent contracts following the draft will be provided via the Cal Athletics social media outlets listed below and online at
CalBears.com. Undrafted free agent signings will not be publicized by Cal Athletics prior to an official announcement from the NFL team.
