FRESNO - Tied at two with two outs in the top of the seventh,
Lauren Espalin knocked in the game-winning run with a double and California defeated UC Davis, 3-2, in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader at the Bulldog Classic from Margie Wright Diamond on the Fresno State campus.
The Golden Bears (9-4) took both games this weekend over the Aggies.Â
Espalin recorded two RBI doubles in Sunday's win.
Morgan Zamora also notched two hits.Â
The Aggies jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first. Cal evened the score at one in the fourth when
Kacey Zobac laced her first career triple that scored
Amani Bradley. After UC Davis regained a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth, the Bears evened it once again in the fifth with Espalin's first RBI double of the game, scoring
D'Asha Saiki.Â
Zamora started the rally in the seventh with her second hit of the day.
Sabrina Nunez came in to pinch run for Zamora and later scored on Espalin's two-bagger.Â
Chloe Romero entered the game in relief of starter
Sona Halajian in the sixth inning, and Romero picked up her second straight win over UC Davis this weekend, improving her team-best record on the year to 5-0.Â
Cal gets another rematch against Fresno State at 3:30 pm this afternoon.
