MORAGA - A four-run first inning was all the California softball team needed to snap its six-game losing streak and get back in the win column with a 6-1 win over Saint Mary's Tuesday afternoon in Moraga. It was the Golden Bears' second win over SMC in 2021.Â
Cal improved to 13-11 on the year.Â
Tatum Anzaldo posted two hits and drove in two, while
Kacey Zobac scored twice.Â
The four-run rally in the first inning all started with two outs. With the bases loaded,
Cameron Kondo singled to get the Bears on the board, and Anzaldo followed that up with a two-run single to make it, 3-0. A bases loaded walk to Zobac completed the four-run frame.Â
After the Gaels scored in the bottom of the first, the Bears got that run back in the fourth when
Amani Bradley tripled, scoring Zobac who had previously doubled to reach base.Â
Zobac scored for the second time in the top of the sixth after reaching on an error.Â
Haylei Archer earned the win, improving to 6-3. She went four complete, striking out four. She allowed one earned run on one hit.Â
Cal hosts Utah this weekend at Levine-Fricke Field in Berkeley. The series opener is set for Friday, April 9, at 3 p.m. The series will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.Â
