Ott And Earby Named Midseason True Freshman All-Americans
Golden Bears’ Duo On Squad Of 23 Selected Nationally By On3
BERKELEY – Jaydn Ott and
Jeremiah Earby have been honored for their outstanding collegiate rookie seasons to this point by being selected to the On3 Midseason True Freshman All-American Team. Ott was chosen as the only all-purpose player on the squad while Earby was picked as one of two cornerbacks.

Jaydn Ott, RB, 6-0, 205, Fr., 1st Season At Cal (Chino, CA/Norco HS/Bishop Gorman HS)
– Leads the Pac-12 in yards per rush (7.3, #6 NCAA), ranks second in rushing yards per game (106.6, #14 NCAA) and fourth in overall rushing yards (533, #25 NCAA) and yards per rush (8.3), while he is tied for fifth in rushing touchdowns (5, #T47 NCAA)
Has PFF's No. 4 "run grade" (89.3) and No. 8 "offensive grade" in the nation among halfbacks through Week 6
– Rushed for 274 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries in Cal's 49-31 win over Arizona on Sept. 24 with his rushing yards in the contest the second-most in a game in a nation this season behind the 320 rushed for by Pittsburgh's Israel Abanikanda against Virginia Tech on Oct. 8 and the most by an FBS freshman since Maryland redshirt freshman Anthony McFarland had 298 against Ohio State on Nov. 17, 2018, and the most by an FBS true freshman since Texas' Chris Warren III had 276 against Texas Tech on Nov. 26, 2015
– Ott's 274 yards rushing against Arizona were the third-most overall at Cal and the most ever by a Pac-12 Freshman
– Ott's 284 all-purpose yards against Arizona are the most by any Pac-12 player in a game this season
– Ott's three touchdowns against Arizona are tied for the most by a Pac-12 player in a game this season both rushing and overall (his 18 total points also tie for the most)
– Ott had touchdown runs of 73 and 72 in the win over Arizona to become the first Pac-12 player with two runs of 70 or more yards in a game since Colorado's Jarek Broussard in 2020 against Arizona and the first Cal player since
Jahvid Best at Washington State in 2008 with touchdown runs of 86 and 80 yards
– Had PFF's top "rushing run grade" (94.4) and No. 8 "rushing offensive grade" (91.8) against Arizona with his "rushing offensive grade" also No. 1 among halfbacks

Jeremiah Earby, CB, 6-2, 185, Fr., 1st Season At Cal (East Palo Alto, CA/Menlo-Atherton HS)
– Has played in all five games and made his first career start at cornerback in Cal's most recent contest at Washington State
- Has contributed eight tackles and is second on the team with three pass breakups while adding 0.5 tackles for loss (-1 yard) and a memorable diving interception in the season opener and his first game at Cal against UC Davis
