BERKELEY – Cal men's gymnastics starts the second half of their 2022 season in much the same way as they did the first half – with a dual meet at Haas Pavilion. The competition, which is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 20 at 2:00 p.m. PT, features the Golden Bears against the Air Force Falcons.
"I think the team has learned and improved a lot from the first half of the season," said senior
Yu-Chen Lee, who is the nation's No. 7-ranked gymnast on the floor exercise. "All of the routines in the lineups are getting more consistent and their quality has improved."
As a team, the Golden Bears rank fourth in the country on parallel bars, accumulating that event's best team total of 66.650 two weeks ago at the Pac-12 Invite. Their top point totals this season have come on the vault (led by ninth-ranked
Caleb Rickard) and on the floor exercise, with respective high scores of 70.250 and 66.950.
"We set target scores for each event as a team," said Lee. "We want to meet all of those, stick our dismounts, hit all of our routines and correct the mistakes that we made last week."
Cal reached a season-best total score of 393.000 on Jan. 29 at the Stanford Open, while Air Force reached their season high of 379.900 at the All Academy Championship on Feb. 12.
