Oregon State Downs Cal With Big Second Half

Beavers Overcome Halftime Deficit In 68-59 Victory Over Bears

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Cal's Jayda Curry scored 23 points and Jazlen Green added 17 more, but the Golden Bears fell at Oregon State, 68-59, Sunday afternoon.

Cal (12-10, 2-8 Pac-12) used a 12-2 run, capped by a Leilani McIntosh 3-pointer, to build a 47-40 lead midway through the third quarter. But the Beavers responded with a 16-0 streak of their own to go up, 56-47, early in the fourth period and did not trail again.

Due to foul trouble to forwards Evelien Lutje Schipholt and Dalayah Daniles, the Bears went with a small line-up much of the game, often with four guards on the court at the same time. Cal took 31-pointers, making nine, and scored just 10 of its 59 points inside the paint.

For Curry, her 23-point performance marked her eighth 20-point game of the season and was her highest total since a career-best 30-point outing at Stanford on Jan. 21. She also finished with five rebounds and a career-high five steals.

Green, who came in averaging 9.9 ppg, had 10 points in the first quarter alone before ending the game with 17. Leilani McIntosh also reached double figures with 10 points while also pulling down a career-best eight rebounds.

Tea Adams paced Oregon State (13-10, 6-7) with 14 points.

Cal closes out the regular season at home in Haas Pavilion next week, hosting Washington 7 p.m. on Friday and Washington State at 12 noon next Sunday.
