Championship Central
INDIANAPOLIS – After a successful weekend at the Pac-12 Invitational in which both
Camryn Rogers and
Josh Johnson shattered their personal records in the weight throw and shot put, respectively, the two of them have both qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, as announced by the conference on Tuesday evening.
"I am very proud of the effort that both Josh and Camryn have put into this indoor season," said Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
Robyne Johnson. "This is the hardest championship to make, and they both came through in a big way last weekend to seal their bid. We look forward to the NCAA Championship meet to see what they will accomplish."
Only the owners of Division I's top 16 marks in each event qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Rogers' school-record 22.73m (74-7) in the weight throw placed her in a tie for 9
th nationally, while Johnson posted a best throw of 19.93m (65-4.75) in the shot put for 10
th in the country and second in Cal history. This marks Rogers' second appearance at the Indoor Championships and Johnson's first appearance (Johnson also qualified in 2020, but the meet was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The NCAA Indoor Championships will take place from March 11-12 in Birmingham, Ala., and will be streamed on ESPN3. For all championship info, click
