Cal Adds Forward Claudia Langarita For 2022-23
Forward Was Named To WCC All-Freshman Team
BERKELEY – The Cal women's basketball team continues to add talent and depth to its roster with the addition of 6-foot-4 forward Claudia Langarita, a transfer from San Francisco.
"We are excited about Claudia's versatility and size," said head coach
Charmin Smith. She has the power to dominate in the paint, she has the skill to effectively maneuver on the perimeter, and she stretches the floor with her outside shooting. Claudia's a young talent with a ton of potential. The sky's the limit for her and our team."
The native of Barcelona joins the Bears after lettering one year across the Bay for the Dons. In her one season at USF, she played 33 games making seven starts while being named to the WCC All-Freshman Team. The four-time WCC Freshman of the Week finished third on USF with 10.5 points per game and shot a team-best 48.4 percent from the field.
She finished the season with 16 games in double figures, including three games with 20 or more while leading USF to an overall record of 17-16 and a second-consecutive trip to the WNIT.
In Spain she played for Segle XXI. In her final season there, Langarita played in 26 games averaging 24.3 minutes per contest. She averaged 7.5 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per contest. She shot 41.1 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from beyond the arc.
No stranger to international competition, Langarita previously played for Spain's U16, U17, and U18 teams. While playing for the U16 team in the 2019 FIBA European Championship she played in five games, averaging 3.2 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. In the win over Italy in the quarter-finals, she finished with nine points and had five points in just over 13 minutes of action.
