BERKELEY – The California baseball program earned the American Baseball Coaches Association's (ABCA) 2021-22 Team Academic Excellence Award on Wednesday, representing outstanding achievement in the classroom.
 
The annual award, which began in 2016, honors high school and college teams coached by current ABCA members that posted a grade point average over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2021-22 academic year. Cal owned a 3.069 cumulative GPA for the 2021-22 academic year.
 
Among the Golden Bears' academic standouts this past academic year were CoSIDA Academic All-District® team selections Jag Burden and Nathan Manning, as well as Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll members Blake Atkins, Garret Nielsen, Keshawn Ogans, Aaron Roberts and Mitchell Scott.
