Seven former Cal football players are on active rosters of NFL teams that have qualified for the league's 2022 playoffs at the end of the regular season that ended Sunday night with Detroit's 20-16 road win over Green Bay at Lambeau Field. Jake Curhan (Seattle) and Marvin Jones Jr. (Jacksonville) are on teams that posted Week 18 victories over the Los Angeles Rams and Tennessee, respectively, and Davis Webb was activated Sunday to the New York Giants' active roster. Curhan and the Seahawks needed both their win and the Lions' victory over the Packers in a battle between teams of former Cal quarterbacks Jared Goff and Aaron Rodgers.
The trio joined four Pro Bears – Keenan Allen (Los Angeles Chargers), Bryan Anger (Dallas), Camryn Bynum (Minnesota) and Patrick Mekari (Baltimore) – on teams that had qualified prior to Week 18 games.
Five other Pro Bears are affiliated with teams in the playoffs in Ian Bunting (Dallas injured reserve), Austin Clark (Miami defensive line coach), Cameron Goode (Miami practice squad), Patrick Laird (Tampa Bay practice squad) and Richard Rodgers II (Los Angeles Chargers injured reserve).
The teams of all 12 are scheduled to play during the NFL's Super Wild Card Weekend this Saturday-Monday, Jan. 14-16.
Seattle will be the first team with a Pro Bear on its active roster to play on Saturday at San Francisco (1:30 pm PT, FOX/FOX Deportes) before Allen and Jones Jr. (teammates at Cal) will square off when the Chargers visit the Jaguars (8:15 pm ET/5:15 pm PT, NBC/Peacock/Universo) with Rodgers II also affiliated with the Chargers (injured reserve).
The Dolphins (Clark defensive line coach, Goode practice squad) will visit Buffalo on Sunday (1 pm ET/10 am PT, CBS/Paramount+) before two more Pro Bears match up when Webb and the Giants visit Bynum and the Vikings (3:30 pm CT/1:30 pm PT, FOX/FOX Deportes). Mekari and the Ravens travel to Cincinnati (8:15 pm ET/5:15 pm PT, NBC/Peacock/Universo).
Anger will be the final Pro Bear in action Monday when Dallas travels to Tampa Bay (8:15 pm ET/5:15 pm PT, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPN+/ESPN Deportes) with Bunting (injured reserve) and Laird (practice squad) also affiliated with the teams.
Following is how each of Cal's 29 affiliates that were on NFL rosters (16), injured reserve (3), practice squads (4), coaching staffs (5) and others (1) fared during the 2022 regular season including Week 18, along with the playoff matchup on the NFL's Super Wild Card Weekend for each of the 12 affiliated with teams that have qualified.
