Rhodes Earns Second Player Of The Week Honor

Graduate Transfer Scored Twice In Road Win Over Bryant

BERKELEY – California field hockey graduate transfer Daniella Rhodes was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week by the conference Tuesday. It is the second player of the week nod for Rhodes this season.

Rhodes, a transfer from Liberty, earned her seventh career weekly conference honor, and her second as a Golden Bear. She also took home America East Offensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 12 this year. Rhodes was electric in her one game played last week. She finished with two goals – including the game-winner - on four shots in just nine minutes of action.

After missing Friday's match against UMass-Lowell, Rhodes came off the bench early in the first quarter against Bryant and scored the first of her two goals in the 12th minute off the pass from Maria Cambra Soler. The goal put the Bears up 2-0 and would go on to be the game-winner. She helped put the game on ice early in the second quarter when she scored her second goal of the afternoon on a penalty corner.  She finished the day with three shots, all on goal.

For the year, Rhodes has 10 goals, which is tied with teammate Bente Baekers for fourth in the America East. Her 0.91 goals per game ranks 14th in the nation. The 10 goals give her 66 for her career.

Cal returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 14, when the Bears play at UC Davis. Saturday's America East contest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. PT from Aggie Field Hockey Facility.
