Scouting the Competition
The Cougars had a tough start to the conference season, suffering losses to the conference's top-three teams in Stanford, UCLA, and USC before picking up their first win against Arizona on the road, 2-1. Despite a 5-1 loss to Arizona State in their most recent match, the Cougars hold an edge with a 19-18 goal differential this year and have been shut out just three times in 13 matches. Washington State is led by senior forward Margie Detrizio, who currently has six goals, three assists for 15 points on the year.

That's Wy
Sophomore goalkeeper Teagan Wy has played just about every available minute between the posts for the Bears this season and her stats show why. Wy ranks third in the Pac-12 with 53 saves, fourth with a 4.08 saves per game average, and fifth in the Pac-12 with a .803 save percentage. Over the last three matches, she has allowed just three goals, with one coming on a penalty kick, and allowed just three in all of September.

Over the Hump
Cal's 1-0 win at Washington not only gave the Golden Bears a perfect start to the Pac-12 season, but also lifted them over the .500 mark for the first time this year. After starting the season 0-2-0 against two of the most talented teams in the nation in No. 1 North Carolina and Tennessee, the Bears have suffered just one defeat, boast a 5-1-5 record, and are unbeaten in Pac-12 play at 2-0-3.

Spreading the Love
The Bears have scored 17 goals off nine different boots this season. Juniors Karlie Lema and Ari Manrique lead the team with three each. Junior Velize King and seniors Rilee Harmon, Abby Borchers, and Mia Fontana have found the back of the net twice, and four other Bears have each chipped in a single goal.

Defending Edwards
Playing at home has been good to the Bears, who hold a 3-1-3 record at Edwards Stadium so far. Over the seven matches, Cal has earned three shutouts and allowed just four goals, two of which came via penalty kicks. The Bears currently boast an 11-4 goal differential while playing on their home field.
