October 28 Cal-USC Kickoff At 1 P.M.
Trojans To Make Final Scheduled Trip To California Memorial Stadium
BERKELEY – California's next game against long-time rival USC at California Memorial Stadium on Oct. 28 will kick off at 1 p.m. PT and be televised by Pac-12 Network. The contest is the 110th all-time between the teams and marks the Trojans' final scheduled trip to Berkeley in a long-standing series that began in Berkeley in 1915. The Trojans have traveled to the Bay Area at least every other season since 1931.
This year's game will culminate a weekend of festivities celebrating the induction of the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2023. The class consists of eight members including Doug Brien, who became Cal's all-time leading scorer in 1993 and held on to the mark for 24 years before it was broken by fellow placekicker Matt Anderson in 2017. Brien remains second behind only Anderson on the all-time list with 288 points (56 FG, 120 PAT).
Cal and USC have split the four games they have played since 2018 with the Bears' 15-14 winners in Los Angeles in 2018 and victorious by a score of 24-14 the last time the teams met in Berkeley in 2021. The series also includes one of the most memorable games in Cal football history when the Bears knocked off a No. 3 USC squad 34-31 in triple overtime in 2003. Tyler Frederickson lifted Cal to the victory by making a 38-yard walk-off field goal.

Cal (3-4, 1-3 Pac-12) has a bye this week while No. 18/16 USC (6-1, 4-0 Pac-12) hosts No. 14/14 Utah (5-1, 2-1 Pac-12). The Trojans head into their Saturday contest against the Utes with a one-half game lead at the top of the Pac-12 standings over a No. 5/5 Washington (6-0, 3-0 Pac-12) squad that is the league's only unbeaten and highest-ranked team.
The kickoff times and television broadcast networks for all of Cal's remaining regular-season games in 2023 are scheduled to be announced either six or 12 days in advance. Cal's November schedule starts with a trip to No. 9/11 Oregon (Nov. 4) before the Bears host Washington State (Nov. 11) in its final home game of the campaign. Cal then concludes its regular season with back-to-back road contests in the 126th Big Game at Stanford (Nov. 18) and by making its final scheduled trip to the Rose Bowl to face UCLA (Nov. 25).
