Smith, McIntosh, Suárez To Appear At Pac-12 Media Day

Media Day Takes Place Oct. 10 At Park MGM In Las Vegas

BERKELEY – Cal women's basketball head coach Charmin Smith and student-athletes Leilani McIntosh and Marta Suárez will appear at the 2023 Pac-12 Women's Basketball Media Day, taking place at the Park MGM in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Fans can tune into the event to follow the Bears through a variety of ways. All three of Cal's representatives will partake in a press conference at 9:50 a.m. PT, which will be live streamed on Pac-12 InsiderPac-12.com and the Pac-12 Now app. The Pac-12 Networks' Ashley Adamson and Mary Murphy will moderate the press conference.

McIntosh is coming off an impressive 2022-23 season which culminated in her earning an All-Pac-12 honorable mention. She consistently ranked in the top 10 of the conference in 3-point percentage, while ranking first at several points during the season. She finished the season in the top 15 of the Pac-12 in both field-goal and 3-point percentage and was one of only two players to average at least 47% from the field, 39% from deep and finish in the top 10 in assists (3.7 APG).

Suárez, a junior transfer from Tennessee, enters her first year with the program. She appeared in 36 games with 14 starts over her three years at Tennessee and averaged 4.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 39.5% from the field and 76.7% from the free throw line. As a freshman with the Volunteers, Suárez started 14 games on her way to earning SEC All-Freshman Team honors.

The 2023-24 season tips off at Haas Pavilion with an exhibition against Westmont on Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. PT, followed by the regular-season opener against Cal State Bakersfield on Nov. 6 at 8:30 p.m.
