The Cal football program added transfer wide receiver Tobias Merriweather to its 2024 recruiting class on Thursday. Merriweather, who saw action in 19 games over the last two seasons at Notre Dame, was a four-star recruit who ranked as high as the nation's No. 11 wide receiver and No. 79 player overall in the class of 2022. He prepped at Union High School in West Camas, Wash.

Merriweather's addition increases Cal's 2024 recruiting class to 23 members. The first 22 were announced Wednesday on the first day of the Early Signing Period that runs through Friday.

Cal's signees include 14 players that will be mid-year enrollees in January of 2024 including Merriweather with eight of those transfers and six from the high school ranks.

Other transfers arriving in Berkeley next month include ILB Teddye Buchanan (UC Davis), DB Isaiah Crosby (Trinity Valley Community College), DB Marcus Harris (Idaho), DL Aidan Keanaaina (Notre Dame), OL Rush Reimer (Montana State), QB Chandler Rodgers (North Texas) and DB Ja'Ir Smith (College of San Mateo).

Six high schoolers – DB Dayday Aupiu, DL BJ Canady, LB Luke Ferrelli, OL Tyler Knape, WR Josiah Martin and LB Eze Osondu – will also join the Bears in January.

The remainder of the group that has been announced to date are also all high schoolers – QB EJ Caminong, DB Brooklyn Cheek, OL Syris Corley, TE Camden Jones, DL Legend Journey, OL Aiden Newbill, DL Michael-Anthony Okwura, WR Trevor Rogers and RB Jamaal Wiley – and will join the Bears next June.

In addition to Merriweather, the signings include an FCS AP All-American in Harris, a prep state champion in Trevor Rogers, and an experienced quarterback who has thrown for over 7,000 passing yards and 53 scores in Chandler Rogers.

Smith is ESPN's second-ranked junior college cornerback and 10th-best player overall, while Crosby is 247Sports No. 4 JUCO safety. Caminong is ranked No. 25 among ESPN's top high school pocket passers and six others have their best position ranking among the top 60 prep players nationally at their position in Jones (On3 Consensus' No. 35 tight end), Canady (247Sports' No. 46 defensive lineman), Wiley (ESPN's No. 51 running back), Trevor Rogers (ESPN's No. 51 wide receiver), Cheek (On3's No. 55 safety) and Aupiu (ESPN's No. 57 safety).
Almost half of the members of the 2024 class call Texas home with 11 from the Lone Star state, while six are from California followed by two from Washington, and one each from Colorado, Kansas, Oregon and North Carolina.

The group is split almost evenly with 12 on defense (5 DB, 4 DL, 2 LB, 1 ILB) and 11 on offense (4 OL, 3 WR, 2 QB, 1 RB, 1 TE).
