Trio Named To CSC Academic All-District Team
Barth, Driscoll, Woodson Honored
A trio of players –
Hunter Barth,
Brian Driscoll and
Craig Woodson – from the Cal football team have been selected to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Football squads recognizing the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. All three have earned the honor for the second straight season and also been selected as finalists for the CSC Academic All-America ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Jan. 23, 2024.

Hunter Barth, ILB, 6-2, 215, R-So., 4th Season At Cal (Chandler, AZ/Queen Creek HS)
Undergraduate Major: Economics, 3.839 GPA
– Played in all 13 games off the bench primarily on special teams as a 2023 junior
– Contributed 21 tackles and one forced fumble

Brian Driscoll, OL, 6-4, 320, R-Jr., 5th Season At Cal (San Diego, CA/Torrey Pines HS)
Undergraduate Major: History, 3.518 GPA; Graduate Major: Business Administration Certificate
– One of Cal's four offensive players and only non-offensive lineman, as well as one of only seven overall, to start all 13 games as a junior in 2023 with his last 12 starts at center after starting at left guard in the season opener
– Became the first Cal offensive lineman to record a touchdown in known history when he fell on a fumble in the end zone against Washington State with the NCAA providing information starting in 1992
– Blocked for
Jaydn Ott – the Pac-12 leader in rushing yards per game (108.8 ypg, No. 9 NCAA) and total rushing yards (1,305, No. 11 NCAA) – and a rushing offense that ranks fifth in the Pac-12 and 47th nationally with an average of 172.5 rushing yards per game that is its highest since 2012

Craig Woodson, DB, 6-0, 210, R-Jr., 5th Season At Cal (Grand Prairie, Texas/South Grand Prairie HS)
Undergraduate Major: Film and Media, 3.550 GPA; Graduate Major: Business Administration Certificate
– Fourth-Team All-Pac-12 selection of Phil Steele as a 2023 junior, while he was an honorable mention choice of the league's coaches for the second consecutive season
– One of Cal's four defensive players and one of seven overall to start all 13 games
– Contributed career highs of 79 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss (-7 yards) and two forced fumbles, a career-high-tying three pass breakups, while also picking up one interception
