Jared Goff, who was not born the last time Detroit won the NFC North, led the Lions to their first division title since 1993 with a 30-24 road win at Minnesota on Sunday. The 29-year-old signal caller, who was the first overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2016 NFL Draft after three seasons at Cal, completed 30-of-40 passes for 257 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in the division-clinching win over the Vikings to highlight performances by former Cal football players in Week 16 of the 2023 NFL campaign.
Goff is one of six former Cal players affiliated with NFL teams to have clinched berths in the playoffs in 2023 with the others P Bryan Anger (Dallas), RB Chris Brooks (Miami), DL coach Austin Clark (Miami), LB Cameron Goode (Miami) and OL Patrick Mekari (Baltimore) of the Baltimore Ravens. Four others – OT Jake Curhan (Seattle practice squad), LB Jordan Kunaszyk (Cleveland), RB Patrick Laird (Tampa Bay practice squad) and WR Nikko Remigio (Kansas City injured reserve) – are affiliated with teams currently in playoff positions but yet to clinch.
A total of 24 former Cal players are currently affiliated with NFL teams, including 12 on active rosters, eight on coaching staffs, one on injured reserve and three on practice squads. Below is a list of all 25 former Cal players who have been affiliated with NFL teams during the 2023 season.
