BERKELEY – Records and top times fell in the final home meet of the season for the No. 2 Cal men's swimming & diving team. Graduate student Lucas Henveaux broke the school and pool record in the 1,000-yard free. Several other Golden Bears set top times as Cal defeated rival Stanford 156-142 on Senior Day at Spieker Aquatics Complex.

The Bears won 10 events on the day, with both relays setting the tone. Cal opened the meet by winning the 200 medley and closed the door on No. 10 Stanford by winning the 400 free relay. The tight competition propelled many of Cal's swimmers to record season-best times, however, it was Cal's brilliance in the 1,000 freestyle that stole the show.

Henveaux blasted the field with a program and pool record time of 8:45.39. The old program record of 8:46.45 was set by Nick Norman in 2019. Henveaux and runner-up Matthew Chai both finished under the old Spieker Aquatics Complex record of 8:49.88 set by Zach Yeadon in 2021. Chai set a personal best in the event finishing with a time of 8:49.82.

Destin Lasco had a tremendous afternoon, the sophomore won three events and set personal best times in all three. In the 200 back, his time of 1:38.23 is an NCAA "A" provisional mark. It was one of four NCAA A times set on Saturday. Hugo Gonzalez finished second in the event with a time of 1:39.86 an NCAA "B" provisional time.  Lasco would go on to win the 100 back and 200 individual medley. In the 100 back, he finished with an NCAA "A" provisional time of 44.73, and in the 200 IM finished with a season-best time of 1:41.28. Gonzalez also set an NCAA "B" time in the event, finishing just behind Lasco with a time of 1:42.79.

Gabriel Jett won the 100 and 200 butterfly. His time in the 100 was 45.21 an NCAA "B" time and a season-best. In the 200 he clocked in with a time of 1:39.95 an NCAA "A" time.

Reece Whitley had a tremendous performance in the 200 breast, finishing with an NCAA "A" qualifying time of 1:51.02, the third fastest time in the nation this year.

Jack Alexy took first in the 50 free with 19.14, a season-best time, and improved on his NCAA "B" provisional time.

Freshman Joshua Thai finished second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 345.90. He also took third in the 3-meter dive with a score of 295.95.
