BERKELEY – Sophomore catcher Caleb Lomavita has been named to the inaugural Pac-12 Preseason All-Conference Team, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

Lomavita started all 55 games as a true freshman during a stellar 2022 season in which he earned Collegiate Baseball All-American honors and All-Pac-12 First Team accolades. The Ewa Beach, Hawaii native was one of six true freshmen to be named to the all-conference squad last season and became the first Golden Bear to earn All-Pac-12 First Team honors since Andrew Vaughn did it in 2017.

Last season, Lomavita boasted a .272/.345/.414 slash line with 10 doubles, 7 home runs and 45 runs driven in. Lomavita stole a team-leading 15 bases in 17 attempts and was one of just 5 Pac-12 players with at least 7 home runs and 15 stolen bags last year. This summer, he was named a Cape Cod League All-Star where he hit .316 (24-for-76) with 5 doubles and 1 home run in 31 games.

The Pac-12 also announced the Preseason Coaches' Poll where the Bears were picked to finish eighth with 40 points.
