The fun begins Sept. 9 when Cal hosts perennial national power Auburn in the first of six home games and first-ever meeting between the teams. The 2023 home schedule is also highlighted by an Oct. 7 homecoming contest against Oregon State and USC's final visit to Berkeley as a member of the Pac-12 on Oct. 28. Games against Idaho (Sept. 16), Arizona State (Sept. 30) and Washington State (Nov. 11) are also on the home slate.

The Golden Bears return five players honored on the 2022 All-Pac-12 team, including first-team ILB Jackson Sirmon, a pair of Freshmen All-Americans in DB Jeremiah Earby and RB Jaydn Ott, WR Jeremiah Hunter and S Craig Woodson. OL Matthew Cindric, DL Darius Long Jr. and WR Monroe Young are key sixth-year seniors coming back for a final season in Strawberry Canyon.

The Bears have also been active in the offseason adding new players and coaches to the program. The first 24 signees of the 2023 recruiting class have been announced including 12 transfers who arrived on campus in January as mid-year enrollees. In addition, three new full-time coaches have joined the staff since the end of the 2022 campaign including offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Jake Spavital, who has coached and recruited a long line of elite quarterbacks.

Fans can get a preview of the 2023 team during 15 spring football workouts that begin March 11 and wrap up with the Cal Football Spring Showcase on April 15. All spring events are free and scheduled to be open to the public at California Memorial Stadium.

In addition to becoming a season-ticket holder and checking out the team this spring, fans can support the Cal football program via the Championship CALiber initiative by visiting the Cal Athletic Fund online.
