Bears Begin Eight-Game Homestand Friday
Cal Hosts Arizona State For Pac-12 Series
BERKELEY – The California baseball team begins a season-long eight-game homestand starting this weekend when Arizona State and Pacific come to Stu Gordon Stadium. The Bears and Sun Devils begin their three-game series starting Friday at 7 pm PT. Cal will host Pacific on Monday at 6:05 pm PT.
The Bears enter this weekend with an overall record of 10-10; in Pac-12 play they are 2-7. Cal hasn't played since last Sunday at Oregon State; Tuesday's scheduled nonconference game at USF was postponed twice due to rain in the Bay Area. Arizona State enters this week with an overall record of 17-8 and is 5-1 in the Pac-12. ASU is currently riding a five-game winning streak after defeating UNLV on Tuesday, winning 6-2 in Las Vegas. Pacific enters this week 8-14 overall, 1-5 in the WCC. The Tigers will host USF prior to coming to Berkeley on Monday.

- After going 1-2 in Corvallis last weekend, Cal is 2-7 in Pac-12 contests this season. Overall, the Bears are .500 at 10-10. After starting the year 8-3, they have lost seven of their last nine.

- Closing it out: Cal has been excellent at closing games out this year. When leading after six innings, the Bears are 9-1; when leading after eight, they are 7-0.
- In Pac-12 play, Peyton Schulze leads the team with a .324 average (11-for-34). He shares the lead in RBI (six) and home runs (two) in conference play.

- Friday will be the 187th time the Bears and Sun Devils have squared off with ASU owning a 118-68 advantage in the series. Under head coach Mike Neu, the Bears are 5-6 against Arizona State. Last year, Cal went 1-2 against the Sun Devils in Phoenix, losing games one and three in the series.
