AUSTIN, Texas/STANFORD, Calif. – California track & field completed its first two-meet day of the season on Friday, with 18 athletes representing the Golden Bears at the 95
th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and 16 others competing at the Stanford Invitational. Cal continued its streak of adding new times to the program top-10 lists with two new entries, while three other Bears earned event wins.
Sophomore
David Foster provided the standout performance for the Bears in Austin, as he finished seventh out of 144 runners in the men's 100m timed final and moved up to No. 2 in program history with his time of 10.30. He was joined in Cal's PR column by junior
George Monroe (10.45w) as well as sophomore
Gavin Schurr's heat-winning time of 10.59, his best in the Blue & Gold. Senior
Riley Hunt posted his own personal-best time in the 110m hurdles, finishing the race in a wind-aided 14.06.
On the women's side, senior
Asha Fletcher leapt to a wind-aided personal best triple jump of 13.38m (42-10.75), winning the section B title. Classmate
Jazlynn Shearer and junior
Jada Hicks also impressed in the 100m hurdles, running their best times as Bears by each finishing the race in a wind-aided 13.31.
It was junior
Claire Yerby who earned Cal's second top-ten time of the day, finishing the 1500m race in 4:19.96 at the Stanford Invitational to rise to ninth in program history. She was not the only Bear woman to reach a new personal best on The Farm, as junior
Ryan Lacefield (55.36) and freshman
Jayden Hill (56.58) posted new career records in the 400m.
The men's version of the 1500m also boasted a noteworthy performance from freshman
Caden Carney, who won section 4 with a time of 3:46.35 – only a little over two seconds off junior
Garrett MacQuiddy's solid section 1 time of 3:44.18. Carney was followed onto the podium by

Riley Knott, who won the low pit high jump at 2.00m (6-6.75), while three other Bear men earned personal bests: freshman
Jason Plumb (long jump – 7.00m/22-11.75), sophomore
Aiden Baker (400m hurdles – 54.35) and sophomore
Charlie Dang (discus – 48.68m/159-8).
The Bears will finish up their weekend of competition tomorrow, with the final day of the Texas Relays beginning at 8:00 a.m. PT and day two of the Stanford Invitational starting at 10:00 a.m.
