Cal Ends Regular-Season Home Slate
BERKELEY – The 30th-ranked California women's tennis team closes its regular-season schedule at the Hellman Tennis Complex when the Golden Bears (9-7, 5-2 Pac-12) face Washington State (7-11, 0-7) on Friday at 1:30 p.m. PDT and No. 19 Washington (15-5, 5-2) on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Prior to Saturday's match, Cal will honor
Haley Giavara and
Erin Richardson in its Senior Day ceremony.

Poll Position
Cal is ranked 30th in this week's ITA team poll, while the sophomore pair of
Katja Wiersholm and
Jessica Alsola (15-10) is ranked ninth in doubles and Alsola (25-3) – who has won 16 straight matches – is ranked 48th in singles.

Bears Beat Ducks, Tigers
Cal won its last two matches, including a commanding 6-1 win at No. 43 Oregon on Sunday and a 7-0 rout at Pacific on Tuesday.

Against the Ducks,
Katja Wiersholm bested Myah Petchey, 6-2, 6-3, to clinch the win. In Stockton,
Valentina Ivanov beat Zoe Clydesdale-Eberle, 7-5, 6-0, to clinch the win over the Tigers.

Berta Passola Folch clinched the doubles point for the Bears with a 6-1 triumph over Pacific's Danielle Zamora and Alexis Sam.

Scouting the Bears
- With a 5-2 conference record, Cal is in a tie for second place with Washington in the Pac-12 standings
- Cal – which went 8-1 in the conference in the 2021-22 season – is the defending Pac-12 regular-season champion
- The Bears also won the Pac-12 Championship crown in the 2020-21 season
- Cal has a 26-2 record in the all-time series with Washington State, including a 4-3 win over the Cougars in 2022
- The Bears have a 36-5 record in the all-time series vs. the Huskies, including a 4-3 Cal victory in 2022
- Hannah Viller Moeller clinched Cal's first three victories this season, including the 6-1 win over UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 21, the 4-1 win over Princeton in the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Jan. 27and the 5-1 result over SDSU on Feb. 24; the Dane clinched her fourth Cal win on March 31, when the Bears beat No. 26 Arizona State, 6-1
- Haley Giavara ended fall 2022 in France, where the Cal senior and Team USA won the Master'U BNP Paribas Championship, with Cal head coach Amanda Augustus on the U.S. staff
- Jessica Alsola and Katja Wiersholm were outstanding in the fall, as the duo won the ITA Northwest Regional Championships and reached the consolation doubles final at the ITA National Fall Championships
- Alsola, Wiersholm and Viller Moeller reached the singles quarterfinals at ITA regionals
- Also last fall, Alsola won the consolation singles title at the ITA All-American Championships, beating USD's Solymar Colling in the final, 6-2, 6-3
- Cal Athletics Hall of Famer and former two-time NCAA doubles champion Amanda Augustus – the 2021 Pac-12 Coach of the Year and five-time ITA Northwest Region Coach of the Year (including in 2021-22) – is in her 16th year as head coach at her alma mater
- Associate head coach Zack Warren – the 2022 ITA Northwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year, who has collected four regional awards overall – is in his ninth year on the staff
- Sean Hill is in his first year as Cal's volunteer assistant coach, after playing as a graduate student for the Cal men's tennis team in 2022

Scouting the Cougars
- Washington State has lost seven straight matches, including a 5-2 setback at Colorado on April 7 and a 6-1 loss at No. 60 Utah on April 9
- WSU last won on Feb. 11, when the Cougars defeated Cal Poly, 6-1, in Fresno
- Cal Athletics Hall of Famer Raquel Atawo – a Cal assistant coach in the 2019-20 season – is in her second season as Washington State's head coach
- A five-time All-American as a Bear, Atawo partnered with Christina Fusano to capture the 2003 NCAA doubles championship
Scouting the Huskies
- Washington plays at No. 11 Stanford on Friday at 1:30 p.m. before facing Cal on Saturday
- UW lost its last two matches – 4-1 at No. 60 Utah on April 7 and 4-3 at Colorado on April 9
- Hikaru Sato is ranked 101st in singles
- Eva Alvarez and Elyse Tse are ranked 53rd in doubles
- Robin Stephenson is in her ninth season as head coach of Washington
