Bears Look To Continue Hot Streak Against Ducks

BERKELEY – The California baseball team looks to continue its hot streak when No. 23 Oregon comes to Stu Gordon Stadium for a three-game Pac-12 series starting Friday at 7:05 p.m. PT. Friday and Sunday's game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network with Tyler Peterson on the call. Saturday's game will be streamed on the Cal Live Stream with Jim Darby handling play-by-play duties.
 
Cal (17-16, 5-13 Pac-12), which has won five of its last six games, is coming off an impressive hitting display against USF when the Bears scored a season-high 17 runs. Cal has scored nine or more runs in five of its last six contests, including 10 or more in three straight games.
 
Oregon entered this week ranked No. 23 in the D1Baseball rankings. The Ducks are 24-11 and have a 9-6 record in Pac-12 play. Oregon took a series from No. 7 Stanford last week in Eugene but has lost two in a row after falling to Portland 10-9 Tuesday night in Portland.

  • After the 17-3 win over the Dons on Tuesday night, the Bears are 9-7 at Stu Gordon Stadium this season.

  • Rodney Green Jr. stole another base on Tuesday and now has 25 on the year – in 27 attempts. He leads the Pac-12 in stolen bases and is 10th in the nation.
  • Sophomore Tucker Bougie went 1-0 with a save last week. He tossed four strong innings in a win over Saint Mary's last Tuesday and followed that up by throwing 1.1 innings with a strikeout to nail down a save in the win over Utah on April 16.
 
SERIES HISTORY
  • Friday will be the 67th time the Bears and Ducks have tangled. All-time, Oregon owns a 35-31 advantage in the series that dates back to Mar. 18, 1963. Since Oregon resumed playing baseball in 2009, Cal is 17-22 against the Ducks. Under head coach Mike Neu, the Bears are 5-7 against Oregon. Last time the teams met, Oregon took two of three from the Bears in Eugene, with Cal taking the series finale 9-8 last May. Cal scored eight times in the final three innings to earn the win on getaway day.
 
UP NEXT
Cal begins a season-long eight-game road trip, starting with a contest in the South Bay to face Stanford on Tuesday at Sunken Diamond. The nonconference clash against the Cardinal will be streamed on the Stanford Live Stream and is scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m.
