Cal Signs McKayla Williams For 2023-24 Season
Former All-WCC Forward Joins Bears
BERKELEY – The California women's basketball team announced the signing of senior transfer McKayla Williams from Gonzaga University to its roster for the 2023-24 season.

A 6-foot-1 guard from Los Angeles, Williams appeared in 88 games for the Zags with 34 starts over her three-year career.

Charmin Smith said. "She gives us really good length and athleticism on the perimeter and added depth at the forward position. In addition to scoring on the offensive end, she is capable of guarding one through five on the defensive end. Most importantly, KK [Williams] is a winner. From high school to Gonzaga, she's been an integral part of winning everywhere she's been and I believe she will help this team win in the Pac."

Williams is coming off her most productive season with the Zags as she started all 34 games in 2022-23 and averaged 30.6 minutes, 7.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game on her way to receiving All-West Coast Conference honorable mention. She scored a career-high 19 points in a win over Pacific on Jan. 19 and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds in a win over then-No. 23 Tennessee on Nov. 21.

As a sophomore in 2021-22, Williams logged 436 total minutes and appeared in all 34 games for Gonzaga, and averaged 1.9 PPG, 2.1 RPG and 0.8 APG in 12.8 minutes per game. As a freshman in 2020-21, she saw action in 20 games, averaging 4.0 minutes a contest.

An ESPN Top 100 prospect coming out of high school, Williams graduated from Windward School in Los Angeles and averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists per game her senior season. She helped lead Windward to a California Division I State title in 2017, California Open Division State title in 2018 and a CIF Southern Section Open Division title in both 2018 and 2019. In 2019, Williams helped the Wildcats to a 26-6 overall record and a No. 13 national ranking. according to MaxPreps. She finished her high school career as a two-time Second Team All-CIF Southern Section and two-time All-State selection and was named First Team All-Gold Coast League and First Team All-CIF Southern Section.
