Men’s And Women’s Teams Honored Separately For Academic Success
Eight men and 11 women from California track & field have been named All-Academics by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as announced by the USTFCCCA on Thursday. To be considered eligible, each athlete must have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale while competing at least two semesters at the nominating institution. They must either have finished the indoor season ranked in the top 96 of any championship individual event or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (Preliminary and Final included), or have finished the season ranked in the top 48 in the region for the multi-events.
Both the men's and women's teams also received USTFCCCA All-Academic nods with cumulative GPAs of 3.128 and 3.334, respectively.
The Golden Bears have enjoyed a high level of academic success this year, most recently having 25 athletes appear on the Pac-12 Spring Academic Honor Roll and 10 named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-Americans.
