Cal announced the addition of three student-athletes from the transfer portal Wednesday to increase the size of its 2024 recruiting class to 26 members with RB
Kadarius Calloway (Old Dominion), PK
Ryan Coe (North Carolina) and WR
Mikey Matthews (Utah) joining the Golden Bears.
Calloway was a consensus four-star recruit who signed and enrolled at Alabama as a cornerback in 2021 before eventually ending up as a running back as a junior in 2023 at Old Dominion, where he rushed 88 times for 623 yards (7.08 ypr) with five touchdowns on the ground. Calloway had a breakout game in 2023 when he rushed 11 times for 236 yards and three touchdowns on the ground at Marshall, breaking off runs of 70, 69 and 75 yards.
Coe has played in 42 collegiate games over the last five seasons at Delaware (2019-21), Cincinnati (2022) and North Carolina (2023), scoring 243 career points by making 48-of-61 field goals (.786) and all 99 of his extra-point attempts. He had his most productive collegiate campaign and earned second-team All-American Athletic Conference honors as a 2022 junior at Cincinnati when he scored 101 points by connecting on 19-of-23 (.826) field goal attempts to set the Bearcats' single-season accuracy record and all 44 of his extra-point tries.
Matthews played in all 12 regular-season games as a 2023 true freshman at Utah, contributing 29 receptions for 261 yards receiving, while also leading the Utes in both kick returns (15-309) and punt returns (17-75), and totaling 649 all-purpose yards. He was a high school teammate of fellow Cal wide receiver
Mavin Anderson at Mission Viejo, where he totaled 2,408 yards receiving and 28 touchdown catches in four prep campaigns. Matthews was also a four-star recruit in the 2022 class according to ESPN, On3 and Rivals, who ranked as high as the No. 30 wide receiver and No. 165 player in the country overall according to Rivals.
